Mom and Dad Hartzke Memorial and Chili Cook-Off

Each year we get together to remember those that we have lost. There are many reasons that they are no longer with us. Yet they are special in their own ways. Mom and Dad Hartzke started a family with Ski's Place. As we all know families grow. Many at the Memorial were only children at the time the bar was open, their parents would bring them down for breakfast or lunch. Today there are many fond memories as the pictures scrolled past on the screen. A small group of four bikes and a car full headed off to the cemetery for a brief time of personal memories. Their Grandsons recounted life from the time that was shared with them. Back at Murphy's we had a prayer and remembered our personal losses of 2011: Robert Wisser, Michael Shisler, Jeremy Carmean, Collin Holt, Jared Whittaker, Robert Snyder, Joshua Quick, Robert VanVynckt and Deb Weaver.
This is, Of Course, a celebration of Life and Family, too. What better way to do so then to break bread together, or in this case sample Chili. Bill and Sue, who do so much cooking for us year round, won first - they have sure learned what everyone likes. I might mention that our guests of honor (motorcycles) were in abundance as the weather held this year, unlike the past several years. In all it was a pleasure to see old friends mixing well with new faces. Mom and Dad did build a family that could grow.
